At the Free Throw Line.
When you’re at the free throw line, you are completely alone. There’s no one to rely on for the score, and no one that can remotely assist you. It’s just you, the ball and the basket; separated by 15 feet of space which requires a perfect arc and rotation to achieve success. I’m at the free throw line in many aspects of my life right now. Single life is abrupt, surprising...

imjustchillin-deactivated201212 asked: Dan pretty much slapped me in the face, in a good way though. The dream is to run my own shop/art gallery. Not only I want to sell and show case my own art but others as well so everyone can benefit. I need to start networking again but I guess I'm having some trouble with that. But all good things will come and I believe this. It all starts with me though so we'll see what tomorrow...
lilmangokitty asked: That's actually the kind of information I was looking for. I'll look Bentley up tomorrow and see what I can get of him and go from there. It kind of works for me, considering I love warfare and the Le Mans alike. That's an awesome idea. :]
And of course! You're one of the few that I actually slow down and take time to read their long texts, because I know...

lilmangokitty asked: I'm aware that they have those manufacturers, but I can't write a 5 page paper on simply that. ...or can I? Haha, I was hoping that they invented some technology that contributed to the modern car, but I've yet to come across it. Or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

The Road to Sendai 08: Finally.
I’ve been the Northeastern region of Japan for the past two days. It looked worse than I could have ever imagined. Picture above was a small fishing community on the coast. As you can see, the tsunami, which had waves up to 50 feet, went in a few miles in some parts. It’s certainly humbling to get a closer look.
When flying on a helicopter you began to appreciate the pressurized...

The Beaten Horse is Dead: Stop.
The updates about my journey to Sendai will continue, but for now, I’m going to shift focus to my personal life. With all that I’ve had to deal with professionally since the earthquake, I’m tired of discussing it altogether. Plus, there have been a few things on my mind. Pictured above is Tokyo as seen from my cold seat on a helicopter.
Since my AE86 is the paint shop,...
The Road to Sendai 07: Mixed Signals.
If you who follow my twitter (@fameONE_Okinawa) or if you’re friends with me on Facebook, you may have already known that I actually made it to Sendai since my last update. It certainly didn’t go as planned.
Once in Atsugi, I began to succumb to my overwhelming feelings of failure and lack of self worth. I came here to complete an assignment. The assignment happened to be very clear...
sarahtheterror asked: Lindsey is on her way over, otherwise I would skype now, I have been reading your updates. They are so much more refreshing than the news, making us think that we are helping over there.
Lets plan a skype date for Thursday, or something. Because I work all night tomorrow D:

The Road to Sendai 06: Ghost.
After another chilly night in the gymnasium of the Japanese army base, we finally got the call to push to Sendai. I couldn’t have been more excited that, after all the waiting, I was finally getting the opportunity to do my job. I had the feeling that much of the humanitarian work had already been taken care of by the Japanese forces, but it didn’t matter; I was ready to go. Only, I...

The Road to Sendai 05: You Cannot Fathom the...
Currently, I’m in an old, abandoned gym on a Japanese Army base in Yamagata. The Marines and sailors are sleeping on the floor utilizing their packs as pillows. The conditions are of no concern to anyone here, including myself. Combine these conditions with unrest and we now have a very disgruntled group of U.S. service members.
Without disclosing any official information, or any...

The Road to Sendai 04: Hilarious Frustrations.
I want to help. That’s all I want to do; help. My small role in this can translate into something bigger. That’s why I enjoy humanitarian aid so much as a journalist. I’m not just making a difference, but I’m documenting it every step of the way. Being stuck here in Atsugi prevents me from being able to do so. The world doesn’t get fixed with hopes, dreams and...

The Road to Sendai 03.
Finally, I’ve received some clarity and, although it doesn’t change the situation, I feel better. I am still in Atsugi, confined to the base and stealing wifi from one of the facilities. We have been on constant standby awaiting a flight. I’ve just been told that the weather is too bad to fly in so the unit that was to deliver supplies in order to facilitate our mission, has yet...

The Road to Sendai 02.
Hurry up and wait. It’s an all too common theme in the military especially when it comes to movement. There was a race to get to the flightline at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, which followed a three hour wait. Once on the bird, we had no clue where we were headed until arriving to MCAS Iwakuni which led to a two day wait. Now at Naval Air Station Atsugi, we wait to find a place to crash...
The Road to Sendai 01.
I haven’t arrived in Sendai yet. I’m at an airfield a few hours south of Tokyo awaiting further equipment, assets and a functioning CH-46 for transportation. Too often, in the wake of natural disaster, people forget what’s going on when the mass media finds another hot topic to discuss. No one wants to beat a dead horse, right? Wrong. Although the globe can easily fall into...

Here's the Deal
Since I leave tomorrow to cover the disaster area, I’m going to spam your dashboards with more pleasant images of Japan. Particularly photos that I’ve taken here in Okinawa.

Weathering the Storm
Tomorrow, at the crack of dawn, I will be on a bird headed to Sendai in order to provide media support and disaster relief aid. I’m no stranger to this sort of thing as I’ve been part of a few humanitarian missions since I joined the Marine Corps. Unlike other missions and operations, this is the first one that hit close to home. Although Okinawa felt next to nothing and was just on a...

Humphrey/Waldorf
As much as it pleases me that Dan isn’t lusting over his stepsister, the unfolding plot between he and Blair seems forced an awkward. I want them to hook up. I want to be entertained by a passionate, racy romance between the two. The awkwardness of not wanting to be spotted together and their secrecy isn’t fun without sex. And that kiss at the end of episode 17 was so poorly scripted....
elleusine asked: I turn it on and off, on occasion. I find it amusing to see what people have to say. When it gets to be too much, I turn it off for a while.

Gym Time.
Most people sicken me for some reason or another. What really gets under my skin is a lack of drive, ambition or motivation to do anything. People who just… exist are just a waste of space. On the other hand, I see the most drive and initiative out of people who are destined to improve themselves with physical fitness. And with that, women who obsess over the gym (in a healthy way, not,...
